Read Me!!: To avoid unnecessary delays, read the following carefully and be sure you send your design in a form we can use. Please feel free to contact us if you need something clarified.

You can send us your design on paper and we will scan it or in the form of a computer file (see below).

We're not overly picky on how you submit your art. We're here to help!! Many people just say " I want (name) in this (font). and I'd like it in (color) about 18" x 6". no problem

If you'd like to get us art. Sometimes (cross your fingers) we can take what we need off of your website. Usually you can just attach a simple picture file in an email.

BE SURE TO INCLUDE THE NAME OF ANY FONTS USED IN YOUR ART!!!!!

If possible, have any submissions which are more complex than the example above,  meet this criteria (below)

A Note from the Marketing and Art Depts. It's important to understand that simple IS better. I'm not just saying that for any ease on our end. Put your Name, or logo, or both, but we don't recommend the following: -A) clutter the head and distract from the main image or B) use a design that is detailed with photoshop effects like lightning, shadows, glows, etc. First of all, remember that you're audience will not be able to even easily distinguish an overly detailed image from off stage during a performance. That is your goal. For the sake of promotion, you want a clean image that is easy to understand even when the crowd is not making an effort to retain it. You want it to stick in their brain. All great corporations have logos like these. think Pepsi, Nike, Whatever. They are all simple, You don't care what the logo is supposed to be, because you looked, it stuck, and your done. But you won't forget it either. The same can be done through fonts. Many items have fonts that are special to them. No matter what the word, you would probably recognize the Hersheys Font, or say Metallica... you get the idea. Your Band is a Brand. You want to Sell Merch! That is your bread and butter on the road and what helps create your value to labels and distributors. Don't Forget to Keep It Simple!

Our Equipment Limitations (as far as your Art is Concerned)

Traditional Die Cut - Creating a logo is done through computer driven die cutting vinyl. Each color is it's own layer. Then they are each stacked as applied to create the final art. because of this process, we cannot cut shadows and lighting effects, nor sketchy fine lines , like veins in a 1" eyeball. (those would need to be drawn in by hand) The best art is kinda like a coloring book. Line drawing with bold defined lines. Color can be added, but fine details may need to be simplified. But remember super detail won't necessarily be seen by your audience. Feel free to email a sample, and I can clear up any questions

Full Color - These are printed and can support photos, shading, special effect, etc. Do do these, we need BIG art files. Min of 180dpi at 100% ( if you aren't sure what that means, ask us) As a general reference, a nice file size is about 8MB ish. Anything less than 2MB may print fuzzy. Please send in jpg, tiff, psd, .ai, .eps. NO gif, bitmap!

Submitting ON PAPER

SIZE Best size to submit your art is to keep it about the size of a piece of paper (8.5" x 11"). fill the paper with the art as much as possible. in other words, don't send your logo drawn the size of a postage stamp. Include crop marks if you're working around a sound hole and have an unusual layout. We can easily enlarge your artwork to fit the size you specify.

If sending in art by mail, we prefer you supply camera-ready artwork. It can be photocopied, laserprinted, or hand-drawn. The ink on your originals must be black. Make your design simple! fine lines are NOT recommended!!!.

If you want a reverse decal (goes on the inside of a window instead of the outside, we can do that no problem!

IF YOU WANT ORIGINAL ART RETURNED, LET US KNOW!!

If there are multiple colors, do not color them in on your paper original, Just make clear notes of what colors you want and where. We'll do our best to accommodate color requests, but we don't stock every shade of every color all the time. We'll contact you and let you know what's up with a confirmation email. Look for it!

COMPUTER USERS

FORMATS
Ideally we prefer these PC & MAC* formats

  • Illustrator (v10.0 and below) EPS / AI
  • Photoshop (v7.0 and below - FLATTEN ALL LAYERS! and at least 72 DPI for photoshop)
  • TIFF / EPS / JPEG

If you're going to email...

You can email a modest file attachment (please keep it small) We have a slow connection and big files are brutal. keep it about half the desired size.  We can enlarge on this end easier. resolution should be at least 72 DPI.

If are using an adobe program, To send a small image for us to check out, Optimize it first, by using the "Save for Web" option in your file menu. this will dramatically cut down the file size. (since we're working with solid colors, you can even mess with the # of colors in that window, ie.. if it's a green tree with a brown trunk, you only need 2 colors, not 256- if this confuses you, don't mess with it)

* When sending MAC files, please be sure to save it "for PC" and that there is an extension (e.g. "file.ai" or "file.psd") on the file name.

You can also send art files by mail on floppies or CD-Rs. A printed version would be nice, but not essential. Please be sure to label your disks with filename, format, and your name & phone number.

WE KEEP COPIES OF THE ART ON FILE SO THAT REORDERS ARE A SNAP!
